The Caen peninsula: the conquest of new districts (on foot or by bicycle)

After the descent of the Avenue du 6 juin, which marks the post-war reconstruction plan of the islet of Saint Jean with its six emblematic marine towers, the route follows the Orne towards the peninsula and its first major facilities. The tour continues on Quai François Mitterrand in front of the Library and then on the banks of the canal, passing in front of the Grande Pelouse and the Tribunal de Grande Instance to reach the Petit Quai de Normandie and the Nouveau Bassin, which will soon open to urbanization.
The return is made by the Victor Hugo canal and the visual perspectives on the abbey aux dames then by the Quai Vendeuvre and the Saint Pierre basin, thus marking the anchoring of this new district on the historic city centre. The total distance is about 5 to 6 km. President of the Insitu association, Christian helps to organize the biennale of architecture in Caen. He likes urban planning, architecture and the urban environment.
